We here in New York State just South of Lake Ontario are suffering from lack of beaches.
They have all been worn away by a high water levels in the lake.
Some are balancing the government group that decides how high the levels should be.
Others, mostly the government group, blames the wind a excessive rains we have had this year.
Either way people are having their property torn away by the waves and at the moment two of our most popular beaches have gone away.
So I decided to make a card about under the beach!
the base card is white card stock with a layer of grey card stock.
The main piece is a very old technique...
I cut a piece of glossy card stock, opened up my Kaleidacolor blue breeze pad (leaving it separated) and loaded up my 4” brayed and rolled back and forth over the card stock.
Once it was dry I applied it to the card front and using the same ink and the bubbles from Lawn Fawn’s “Manatee-ridiculous” I stamped them over it.
On grey textured card stock I stamped the manatees from the same set with StazOn jet black ink and cut them out, including cutting the mounts and one fin.
Next I die cut some white card stock with one of the dies from Lawn Fawn’s “Simple Road Border” set.
I stamped the words from the same set with the StazOn and glued everything to the card front.
How sad to hear of your lack of beaches - we are facing erosion issues in New Zealand too, and we have a very long coastline for the size of our land mass!
ReplyDeleteLoving your card Arlene - what a stunning background you have achieved, and the Manatees are so cute too

It's very sad to hear that you're losing your beaches.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty card though - love that background
Awww! This card is so darn cute! I think this is the perfect of example of mixing sophisticated techniques with whimsical images. The background is subtle, but perfectly conveys that ocean theme. You did an amazing job and I'm so glad you shared your work with us for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!
