Sew Easy...

Yes, it was pretty easy. I bought the sew easy tool and a few heads a while back. I thought I could be cheap and use a mouse pad under neath instead of the pad made for the tool.
WRONG!
It's worth it to buy the pink pad. The tool just works better with it.

I wanted to take something easy to play with to my latest stamping get together. Picked up some Sew Easy threads in assorted browns at Hobby Lobby. Threw them, the tool and heads with pink pad, into a bag with some card stock and sewing stamps. I added my 3M tape gun, foam tape and Staz-on brown and black pads. While I was at Hobby Lobby they had some brads and paper flowers on sale in the browns. I added a few pieces of patterned paper to the bag and I was ready to create!
You will see the zig-zag stitch (ironic as treadles don't zig-zag) toward the bottom of the card. It ran perfectly with the line on the patterned paper.
If you've never tried this tool here is how I use it. I have a thick ruler that I place next to where I want the piercings from the tool, that I will sew later. I use it to keep the line straight by running the tool up against it. (Stampin Up has a tool that you can use with the roll-a-graphs that would work as well)
Place the ruler on the card stock that is on the pink mat. This is where I made my first piercings wrong. The tool needs to be even over the paper. Not too forward or backward. Apply even pressure and roll. Once pierced you sew as the directions on the packaging direct.
The above card is a larger head that makes leaves.
The saying stamp is a great set I just found from Inky Antics.

One thing I found is that it doesn't work as well on heavier card stock.
Patterned paper works the best! Or the same thickness in card stock.

I hope you try this fun way to create.

The final Halloween cards...

Thanks to A.C. Moore and Martha Stewart punches.
I got the punches, jack-o-lantern and raven in a tree, on sale.
The best part is that you can put these punches anywhere you like on a piece of paper.
I have a snowflake from last year that I want to play with for Christmas.
They were regularly $21.99, on sale for $8.80.

I bought the punches and rushed home to make some quick and easy cards! Next year...more elaborate. But above you will find my "quickie" cards.
AND...if you look back on my blog you will find a bunch of cards, "With a half pound of paper". While at A.C. Moore I found the packs still there!!!

Have a very Happy Halloween!

Bloody Halloween...

This was the best for Stephen.
If you know him you know how much he loves bloody stuff!!!
The stamp of the vampire was a $1.00 stamp from Michael's last year. I just knew I would be making good use of it!
The stamp of blood drops was from an unmounted set I bought from JoAnn's. Unfortunately it wasn't the greatest set. It didn't stick well to my acrylic block. I used it just enough to stamp the above card then cleaned it, placed it back in the set and donated the set.
Please enjoy your Halloween!!!

Christmas with Spectrum Noir Markers...

After searching every where on Google for comparison's of alcohol markers, I decided to go with Spectrum Noir.
Mainly because I can't afford the Copic. But then there were other reasons...I found that using a harder tip made coloring actually easier than a brush tip. The chisel end colored in areas faster and wetter than the brush tip. The Spectrum Noir made it easier to blend when only using one color than my water color markers.
There are down sides to using alcohol markers, though, they bleed. You have to remember not to come too close to the printed line as they will bleed over. I had to buy yet another black stamp pad, Momento, so it didn't bleed into the image.
What I do LOVE about it are the colors, though they dry lighter than they start, they still give a bold wonderful color! AND there are tons of tutorials online. Just use your search engine and put in "Spectrum Noir" You will come across their web site, link above, as well as a bunch of instructions.
I used the white card stock you get from WalMart, as per one of the tutorials. It worked great for the above image. I haven't tried the "Ultra Smooth Premium White Card stock" that they recommend on the web site. I did find it at A.C. Moore and was able to use my 55% off coupon.
I also took my hubby and bought the sets using my 50% off and 40% off coupons at Joann ETC and A.C. Moore. The sets sell for $14.99 regularly but with the coupons they were a great price.
I have another sample to show but it has to wait until I give it to my friend who got me hooked on alcohol markers...
 bad girl!!!

Enter if you DARE!!!

The count down is continuing...

Stampendous is just great with these GIANT stamps. The only thing I added to this card was the grave stone Martha Stewart punch, at the bottom. AND the Enter If You Dare from a $1.00 set I picked up at A.C.Moore. Stippling the top with Adirondack Eggplant and the bottom with Adirondack Slate.
Got a few simple cards left for the next few weeks.
Hope to see you then!!!
