The next Halloween card is...

Stampendous to the rescue again!!!
This is a bit more traditional than scary but such fun to do.
Stamped with Staz-on. The pumpkins are colored with water color pencils ( I love working with things that I haven't used in a while) then I lightly brought them together with a water color brush.
I stippled the rest.

Hope you are having fun getting ready for Halloween.

Thank yous...

So many wonderful friends remembered me on my birthday this year and I was taught to always say thank you.

On my birthday my hubby took me around the Finger Lakes to check out two quilt shops that I had never seen. One in Naples, very nice and country. At the one in Hammondsport, I found the stickers I used on these cards. Stickers, card stock, an EK punch, stamps, ink pad and some glue made a morning of thank you making.

If you like the stickers just click on the link below for an assortment of quilting items.

Halloween card #5...

Once again Stampendous comes to the rescue. This is another of their great large cling rubber stamps. I started with white card stock and punched out a circle from a Post-it note. I stamped the image on the white card stock, using black Staz-on and placed the punched out circle over the branches in the tree.
Using my stipple brush and my Adirondack eggplant pad, I stippled lighter in the center of the card and darker toward the edges. I layered it onto black then plum before placing it on  the main black card. From black card stock I punched the Martha Stewart fence.

With a half pound of paper...

you can do so many things!!!
I found this bag of card stocks at my local AC Moore. It's very small, but with a few stamps, a few Spellbinders Nestabilities and some glue, you can do the following cards.
I will show you one of each of the cards I made, there are about two per different card, with the name of the Spellbinder that goes with it. Please note I also have about 1/3 of the card stocks left to make more cards.
The technique is from Splitcoaststampers.

Large classic Inverted Scalloped Circles -

The black behind these cards are just so you can see the cut edge!!!

This one is great I found a $1.00 stamp that had a bat on it and the quote was "that's just batty". Needless to say it had to go inside this card.

None of the cards is bigger than 4-1/4" so they can fit in an A2 envelope with no problem.

Have a great time creating!

The next Halloween card...

was quick and easy. I had the brads with the silver around the outside edge. I found a piece of shimmering silver paper that reflects the colors around it. That made for a perfect match to the brads. Layer, layer and more layering.
All done.

Retire...

I have been waiting for a long time to be able to post these four cards, but I had to wait until the people I made them for actually received them! Everyone is retired or moved on from our library so now I post.
The above card was such fun, for a special lady at our library that I spend quilting time with. I had to make all these cards large enough for other people at the library to sign. This card is an 8.5" x 11" card stock, folded in half, base card. There are layers and some are corner punched. The main piece is stamped with the Inkadinkado weeds and butterfly from their Meadow set. I stippled the same color all around the main piece.

This card was for a wonderful person who was head of our children's department. She moved on to a library director position in a nearby town. This was an easy card because this girl likes simple, clean lines. The stamp is from a TPC Studio set called Floral Collage. I used a Kaldeidacolor pad to match the card stock. I stamped it on linen card stock that gives that lovely background look.

This card was for a sweet lady who had worked for the library in many capacities for many years! She finally decided Maine was calling and retired. I stamped the tulips from Stampin' Up Watercolor Garden using a Versamark pad on white card stock. Using chalks and cotton balls I applied the chalks to the Versamark ink . I also applied chalks to the card stock, then sprayed with a fixative. I cut them out using a Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Ten. I had some great topaz gem stickers to place on the card. Layered and corner rounded at the bottom...all done.

This card was for a terrific lady, our assistant director. This lady is a red and tan, tailored person so I found a new technique to try. I had done Batik before, http://www.thirdcoastrs.com/batik_class.htm \ , but found a great way to get two for one. Instead of stamping on to mulberry paper and ironing with news print, I used white card stock and then ironed with white card stock. This gave me two images to work with. Such fun using the Hero Arts Silhouette Grass for a larger card!

I can hardly wait to retire so I can  have time to do more cards!!!

Halloween Week 3...

How thrilling to find this fantastic image from Stampendous. I immediately knew what to do with it to make Stephen LOVE it!!!
BLOOD
Okay so it's not real blood. I stamped the image, with black StazOn, to water color paper. Once it is fully dried ( I know that sounds silly but the ink needs to be perfectly dry so it doesn't "bleed" into the paper and un-sharpen the image), I spritzed it with lots of water. Then the blood, Marvy matchable English red re-inker, was dripped over the front of the card.
(If you place an 8 1/2" x 11" white card stock to catch the drips, you have great background paper for another card!)
Once it is fully dried I just layered with black and red card stock.

Halloween card 2...

This was a very simple one. Last year I found the RIP stickers in the discount bin at Michael's.
I had some glittery orange and black card stock, though it doesn't show up so well. I just layered the card stock and then attached the stickers. This card is perfect for a legal size envelope.
Stephen left today after our weekend together, but not before we shopped at Michael's, A.C. Moore and Spirit!!!
His room at the group home is now officially made gory and he is happy!

September first begins the Halloween season...

or at least at our house it does. No, I don't put up any decorations until October first. However if you know my son, Stephen, you know he's a Halloween fanatic. So much so that he's not allowed to talk about Halloween from November second, until September first, of the next year. Otherwise everyone at the group home and his family would be driven NUTS!!!
This year I've decided to send him one card a week until Halloween.
Since today was the first, he received the above card.
I was thrilled to find the goblet stickers at Michael's. Stephen has a collection of funky Halloween goblets on his desk. Recently added to by a dear friend. The card is made with patterned paper that actually had the spider on it!!!
Then I stamped the Art Impressions hutch on brown card stock. It was a little too high for the card so I chopped the legs down to fit. Add the goblets and you're all done.

Keep watching for further Stephen Halloween cards. Some are quite gory...the kind he really loves.
